1819 25C Large 9, B-1, Low R.5, XF45 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 3/2. The Large 9 type is rare compared to Small 9 varieties, and of the two Large 9 die marriages the Browning-1 is much scarcer than Browning-2. Still-lustrous surfaces display steel-blue accents at the rims with lilac-gray and orange-gold centers. The strike on this Choice XF coin remains sharp despite 15 points of wear. Struck from the late state of the dies, with a bold, rim-to-rim crack reaching from star 7 to star 12 across Liberty's eye, face, and neck. Seemingly underrated in all grades, but especially when Choice and attractive such as this coin. Population (Large 9 varieties): 6 in 45, 14 finer (10/16).
