Seated Quarters
1853/53 25C No Arrows, Briggs 1-A, FS-301, VG10 PCGS. The 53 in the date is widely recut. The sole die marriage for the scarce No Arrows variety, which has a Guide Book mintage of only 44,200 pieces. The issue was struck early in the year, prior to the February 21, 1853 law reducing the weight of the silver quarter. The present stone-gray and gunmetal example clearly displays the last five letters in LIBERTY. The LI are faint but apparent. Marks are confined to a slight obverse edge knock at 5 o'clock.
