1870-CC 25C -- Damaged -- NGC Details. VG. During its first year, the Carson City Mint struck three silver denominations: the dollar, half dollar, and quarter. The 1870-CC quarter is by far the rarest of the three issues. The present dove-gray example is well defined for the VG level, and has a bold date and mintmark. The NGC designation refers to three curved impressions on the upper left reverse, which flatten and slightly bend portions of the design, such as IN GOD, the eagle's beak, star 1, and the TE in UNITED.
