Seated Quarters
1891-O 25C XF45 PCGS. CAC. After a gap of 31 years, the New Orleans Mint resumed coinage of Seated dimes and quarters in 1891. The dimes are readily collectible, but the quarters are rare. Only 68,000 pieces were struck. Few were set aside, as collectors of the day generally paid little attention mintmarks. This Choice XF piece displays areas of gold, silver, and ice-blue color. Light scratches appear on both sides, but are partially concealed by the toning. Population: 7 in 45, 13 finer. CAC: 3 in 45, 4 finer (11/16).
