Proof Seated Quarters
1869 25C PR66 PCGS. CAC. Briggs 2-B. The appeal of the proof 1869 Seated quarter is drawn substantially from the rarity of Mint State circulation strikes, but it is itself scarce in high grade. The proof issue had a mintage of 600 pieces, and this Premium Gem is tied for the finest non-Cameo survivor at PCGS (11/16). The design elements are boldly brought up amid glasslike mirroring in the fields. Both sides display vivid multicolor toning, and the eye appeal is exceptional. The obverse is lightly die doubled, as always on the proof issue. Population: 7 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer. CAC: 11 in 66, 1 finer (11/16).
