Standing Liberty Quarters
1918/7-S 25C FS-101 VF20 PCGS. The 1918/7-S Standing Liberty quarter resulted from a hubbing error, when a die was subjected to impressions from both 1917- and 1918-dated hubs. This variety was not discovered for about two decades after striking, so most examples seen are in well-circulated condition. The present coin is in the seldom-offered VF grade level, and it is a very nice piece for that grade. The surfaces are evenly worn with original silver-gray patina, and the date is clear, including the underlying 7 of the final digit. Collectors seeking a mid-level circulated example of this key issue should bid strongly for this lot. Midgrade examples of the overdate seldom come this appealing.
