Standing Liberty Quarters
1925 25C MS67 Full Head PCGS. The 1925 is an interesting date in Full Head grades. The certified population data suggests a number of Gem and finer examples are extant, but the issue does not appear at auction as often as it theoretically should. This leads J.H. Cline to question the accuracy of the population figures, suggesting a number of resubmissions are reflected.
Of those that do exist, many are sharp enough on Liberty's head to qualify for the appropriate designation but still show weakness in the central regions, namely the shield rivets and the leading edge of the eagle's left (facing) wing. The specialist will pounce on this example, therefore, not only for its superior numeric grade, but also for its unusually sharp strike. Liberty's head is full and the shield rivets are complete, if still soft around numbers 3 and 4, and the eagle's feathers are well brought up. The reverse displays a blush of golden toning, while the obverse exhibits vivid rose, gold, and mint-green hues, primarily around the periphery. Population: 12 in 67 (3 in 67+) Full Head, 0 finer (10/16).
