Early Half Dollars
1795 50C 2 Leaves, O-103a, T-29, R.5, VF30 NGC. Ex: Hilt Collection. A heavy, two-pronged die break and cud at AME of AMERICA defines the late state of the reverse die for this interesting variety. An additional bold die crack travels past the I in UNITED, where it splits left and right of the eagle's left (facing) wing. The obverse of O-103a often shows weakening of the stars opposite the reverse die break, yet they remain strong on this example. Some light adjustment marks are visible with a glass in Liberty's hair and at the rim near stars 11 and 12. Beveling of the rim is visible above stars 7 and 8.
