Early Half Dollars
1795 50C 2 Leaves, O-108a, T-17, R.4, Fine 15 PCGS. Bold borders, legends, stars, and date attest to an even, sharp strike on this mid-level circulated Flowing Hair type coin. The Liberty portrait is bold also, particularly in the definition of the hair strands. The eagle is worn flat, as usual, but shows a crisp outline. This piece displays deep, original olive-gray, lavender, and gunmetal-blue toning over mostly smooth surfaces. A small rim nick near star 8 on the obverse serves as a pedigree marker. The late die state O-108a variety exhibits a crack along the top of AMERICA, which is partially worn on this example.
