Early Half Dollars
1795 50C 2 Leaves, A Over E in STATES, O-113a, T-14, R.4, VG10 NGC. Tompkins Die State 4/2. A circulation-cameo effect on both sides, with deeply toned slate-gray fields and light, silver-gray toning on the raised devices. A popular variety in a mid-to-late state of the dies, with a large, ragged die lump between 5 in the date and star 15. Generally smooth and nicely detailed surfaces for the VG grade, with the A in STATES clearly punched over a mistaken E. A rim bump at 9 o'clock on the reverse is noted.
