Bust Half Dollars
1818 50C O-108, R.1, MS63 NGC. Cherry-red, lime-green, peach-gold, and stone-gray embrace this coruscating and unblemished Select half dollar. Some O-108 halves are strongly clashed, and others are without any clash marks. The present piece is in the latter, unclashed category, even though the stars are drawn to the edge, indicative of a late die state. Al Overton paid close attention to cracks, but mostly ignored clashes, while compiling his classic reference.
