Bust Half Dollars
1825 50C O-115, R.3, MS65 NGC. A small bar to the right of 1 in the date is one pick-up point, and the left-leaning 5 in the date is another. Dappled golden-gray toning forms an overall rich patina on both sides of this Gem with strong silver luster shining through. Liberty's portrait is sharply struck, while the eagle's talons are less-sharp along with the obverse stars, which lack central details. A pleasing, obviously original Bust half with great natural eye appeal. This moderately scarce variety does not exceed the MS65 level in any of the references, although several equally graded pieces exist to make up the entire Condition Census at that grade (11/16).
