Bust Half Dollars
1828 50C Square Base 2, Small 8s, Large Letters, O-115, R.2, MS64 PCGS. CAC. A CAC-endorsed near-Gem example of the Overton-115 die marriage, with star 13 equally close to the curl and the dentils point-to-point. Die defect lines between the eagle's left (facing) wing and scroll confirm the O-115 reverse, as well as one line each from shield stripes 3 and 5 extending to horizontal line 2 of the shield crossbars. Deep, gunmetal-blue toning at the margins lightens toward the almond-gold centers, with soft luster shining through. The surfaces are free of any significant marks, and the strike is sharp at the centers. A few of the obverse stars are lack their central radials. This coin is tied with several others just below the Conation Census for the variety.
