Bust Half Dollars
1830 50C Large 0, O-123, R.1, MS65+ PCGS. CAC. Several of the horizontal shield lines (the azure) extend well into the feathers beyond the right shield border, a characteristic of O-122, although the other diagnostics all point to O-123 as the correct variety for this mostly brilliant and frosty Gem coin. Both the left-side and right-side stars are sharp on the obverse, and the Large 0 leans left toward the 3 in the date. This coin ranks at the low end of the Condition Census according to Steve Herrman's current analysis and the Parsley reference. Population (all Large 0 varieties included): 8 in 65 (1 in 65+), 2 finer (10/16).
