Bust Half Dollars
1831 50C O-118, R.3, MS65 PCGS. CAC. Probably the finest known of the variety. We offered the only other listed MS65 example (according to the Autumn, 2016 edition of Steve Herrman's Census) in our March, 2004 Portland, Oregon Signature auction. The current coin is sharper on the scroll -- which is always weakly struck for the variety -- and the motifs are exceedingly sharp throughout both sides of this lustrous Gem. Bronze-gold and blue toning rolls across the frosty and nearly mark-free, silver surfaces. CAC endorsed with impressive quality and eye appeal.
