Bust Half Dollars
1834 50C Small Date, Small Letters, O-112, R.3, MS64 PCGS. This coin is erroneously attributed on the PCGS insert as an example of the Large Date, Large Letters variety. It is instead an example of the Overton-112 variety, a scarce Small Letters, Small Date coin. Wonderfully lustrous, the satiny surfaces sparkle at all angles despite a thin veil of lilac-gray patina with a brief appearance of translucent gold toning at the margins. Both sides are virtually abrasion-free for the grade and the devices are boldly defined save for trivial softness on the denticles. An appealing near-Gem, the coin is housed in an older light-blue label holder with barcode on the reverse. Population: 84 in 64 (9 in 64+), 13 finer (11/16).
