1836 50C Reeded Edge, GR-1, R.2 -- Repaired -- NGC Details. XF. The reeded edge 1836 half dollar is an historic issue, the first of the denomination coined by a steam press. The traditional mintage of 1,200 pieces is likely incorrect, given the number of survivors, but the issue is undeniably scarce and popular. This is an olive-gray and steel-blue example with microgranular and hairlined surfaces.
