Reeded Edge Half Dollars
1836 50C Reeded Edge, GR-1, R.2, AU50 PCGS. The Guide Book mintage of 1,200+ is a beacon call to collectors to accumulate examples, and many have done so over the years. The actual mintage remains a hot topic among Bust half specialists, but the first-year output from the new Thonnelier steam press was small. This is a partly lustrous gunmetal-gray half dollar that displays impressive sharpness and only a solitary consequential mark, to the left of the date.
