Reeded Edge Half Dollars
1836 50C Reeded Edge, GR-1, R.2, AU58 NGC. The 1836 Reeded Edge half dollar is a historic issue, the first of the denomination coined on the Philadelphia Mint's new steam press. The mintage is traditionally given as 1,200 pieces, but enough are known in VF and XF to question that figure. At the near-Mint level, the issue becomes very scarce. This well struck and lightly abraded example displays deep sea-green, golden-brown, and lavender toning.
