Seated Half Dollars
1849-O 50C WB-101, Die Pair 11, R.3, MS63 NGC. Partially filled 4. Toned with attractive orange-gold and lilac-gray shades over the entire surface, with an arc of bright blue along the lower obverse. The reverse toning is mostly gold but with bold lilac highlights framing the eagle. The strike is sharp throughout, and the obverse die shows minor cracks. Identifiable by a single minor reeding mark just below star 10 in the field. The obverse die shows some evidence of rust on Liberty, where another humid New Orleans summer took its toll. A long, light die crack travels from the rim through the F in OF and follows the eagle's right (facing) wing, diagnostic of the die pair. Census: 6 in 63, 7 finer (10/16).
