Seated Half Dollars
1853 50C Arrows and Rays, WB-101, MS64 PCGS. After a slight weight reduction to stimulate the circulation of silver subsidiary coinage, Arrows and Rays were introduced to differentiate the lighter half dollars from their earlier counterparts. Inadvertently, a new subtype was created that continues to resonate with collectors. This nearly fully struck Choice type coin exhibits blushes of gold patina around the margins. Small marks are well-hidden. Lightly clashed. PCGS records 26 higher grading events (11/16).
