Seated Half Dollars
1858 50C Type One Reverse, WB-101, MS65 PCGS. CAC. Pearlescent pale-gold centers deepen to amber-gold toning at the margins of this smooth and lustrous Gem half dollar. The strike is comprehensively sharp except on stars 6 through 8 and in the opposing area of the left (facing) claw. Terrific eye appeal remains, with only a few faint marks visible under a loupe. More than 4.2 million pieces were struck, yielding many varieties yet to be fully documented but precious few Gem-quality or finer survivors. Population: 17 in 65, 5 finer. CAC: 7 in 65, 2 finer (11/16).
