Proof Seated Half Dollars
1864 50C PR64+ PCGS. CAC. Breen's Proof Encyclopedia cites two varieties for the 1864 half dollar (470 specimens manufactured) with the 64 spaced either closely or widely apart. This is an example of the former. Each side is uniformly toned in lavender-gray, ice-blue, and olive hues that effectively conceal minor, grade-limiting contact marks. The quality for the grade is terrific. Population: 57 in 64 (1 in 64+), 24 finer. CAC: 4 in 64, 10 finer (11/16).
