Proof Seated Half Dollars
1870 50C PR65+ PCGS. CAC. The 1870 is a popular, early With Motto date that is useful for type purposes because of its abundant mintage of 1,000 proofs. However, not many were well-preserved, and today Gems are rare. This Plus-graded example displays fields that are brightly reflective with a modest amount of mint frost over the devices. A few small contact marks are scattered over each side, and the centers are generally brilliant with deep golden-rose toning around the margins. Population: 15 in 65 (1 in 65+), 5 finer. CAC: 4 in 65, 3 finer (11/16).
