Early Dollars
1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Three Leaves, B-5, BB-27, R.1 -- Obverse Graffiti -- NGC Details. VF. Bowers Die State III. This is an attractive, naturally toned Flowing Hair dollar with solid VF definition and strong rims. Golden-tan toning displays blue overtones. An interesting pellet of extra metal is obvious above the 9 in the date, but very few marks exist on the smooth surfaces aside from some crudely inscribed, shallow graffiti in both the left and right obverse fields -- the name "Solomon" in cursive letters at the right, and perhaps Wilm. or Wilson at the left. Traces of luster persist at the margins.
