Early Dollars
1796 $1 Small Date, Small Letters, B-1, BB-66, R.4, VF35 PCGS. Bowers Die State I, which he states may not exist for the variety, but the plate coin in the second edition of the early dollar book appears to be the early die state. The wreath ribbon is complete, and the lowest leaf below the U in UNITED is similarly complete. The variety is scarce, and the early die states is extremely rare. This attractive example displays delicate blue and gold toning on its light gray surfaces.
