1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Close Date, B-29, BB-119, R.4 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. XF. Bowers Die State I. Unknown in full Mint State, the BB-119 die marriage is scarce with an estimated 200 to 350 survivors in all grades. Deep, iridescent toning hides evidence of cleaning, but this example is boldly defined with smooth surfaces that display shades of rose and olive-gray. Some weakness in the field stars is noted, not unusual for the variety, interrupting the line star pattern. Numerous die cracks exist on the obverse despite the early die state, a result of its prior use as the obverse on the BB-113 variety.
