1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Wide Date, B-12, BB-120, R.4, VF35 PCGS. Bowers Die State II, the defining die crack through UNITED, the left wing tip, and at the top of STAT of STATES is faint but present. The field stars beneath the clouds are all present with only slight weakness above the eagle's head, attesting to the sharp strike on this Choice VF example. Natural golden-gray toning retains traces of luster in recessed areas. As expected, a few small marks are present but overall the surfaces are smooth and attractive for the assigned grade. There are no adjustment marks. A scarce variety, the BB-120 exists mostly in well-worn grades.
