1800 $1 B-16, BB-187, R.2 -- Obverse Scratched -- NGC Details. AU. Bowers Die State III. The obverse is unique to the BB-187 variety, distinguished by a die dot adjacent to the top curl at left. Pleasing lilac and gold shades visit the lightly toned surfaces, which retain a generous amount of mint luster for the grade and sharply defined motifs. A few fine pinscratches and shallow scrapes in the right obverse field and at Liberty's lower portrait determine the NGC net grade.
Ex: The 400 Sale (Stack's, 1/1988), lot 1170, as "extremely fine and choice."
