Seated Dollars
1850-O $1 AU55 PCGS. OC-1. Osburn-Cushing Die State b/c. The low mintage of just 40,000 pieces qualifies this New Orleans issue as a semikey date in the Seated dollar series, although the issue is slightly more available than the Philadelphia coins from the same year. This example displays tan-gold, patchy-blue, and iridescent toning over semireflective silver surfaces. Abrasions are infrequent and generally light across the surfaces to justify the Choice About Uncirculated grade. Luster remains on both sides of this well-struck and appealing dollar. Population: 14 in 55, 20 finer (11/16).
