Trade Dollars
1877-CC T$1 MS63 PCGS. Breen-5817. The base of the 1 in the date is repunched. Numerous die cracks occur around each side of this Select Carson City Trade dollar, one of 534,000 examples struck at that facility in 1877. About 400 pieces are believed extant, only a quarter of them in mint condition. Most Uncirculated survivors grade in the MS62 to MS63 range, and finer representatives are very rare. Light golden toning encircles the brilliant obverse. The other side features a veil of dusky antique patina. The motifs display a good impression. A tick on Liberty's visage merits mention. Population: 34 in 63 (2 in 63+), 13 finer (11/16).
