Proof Trade Dollars
1876 T$1 PR64 NGC. Type One Obverse, Type Two Reverse. A golden-toned, reflective example of this Centennial-year proof Trade dollar issue. Proof sales in 1876 experienced a modest spike from the previous year up to 1,150 pieces, as the Centennial International Exposition was held in Philadelphia that year and many attendees made time to tour the Mint building and acquire souvenirs. This near-Gem shows a bold strike and has an interesting Mint strike-through from the ribbon end through WE in the motto. There are no significant post-Mint imperfections. Census: 45 in 64 (1 in 64+), 21 finer (11/16).
