Proof Trade Dollars
1881 T$1 PR65 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The 1881 is a collector-favorite. It is a proof-only issue with a mintage limited to only 1,987 pieces. This sharply struck Gem Cameo example represents an especially good value for the Trade dollar collector since PCGS has certified only a dozen finer proofs with Cameo contrast. It is one of the few examples for the grade that carry CAC endorsement as well. The fields are deeply reflective and each side displays nearly identical toning patterns -- rose-gold centers surrounded by light-blue margins. The devices are noticeably frosted and present strong contrast against the deeply mirrored fields. Population: 28 in 65 Cameo, 12 finer. CAC: 6 in 65, 7 finer (11/16).
