Proof Franklin Half Dollars
1952 50C PR68 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The 1952 proof Franklin half presents a challenge for the Registry Set collector. Deep Cameos are rare in any grade, and the sole finest at PCGS -- a PR67 Deep Cameo -- is already housed in the current highest-rated Registry Set. Cross over into the Cameo category, however, and this issue becomes more readily obtainable. It is also known in finer numeric condition with the Cameo designation. The present offering is one of five PR68 Cameos that rank as the finest at PCGS (11/16). Field device contrast is nearly as dramatic as it is on Deep Cameos, and the level of preservation gives this coin significant appeal over a Deep Cameo two grade points lower. The coin is brilliant and yields remarkable depth of mirroring in the fields. The CAC endorsement further adds to the appeal, an award not given to the finest Deep Cameo coin at PCGS. CAC: 5 in 68, 0 finer (11/16).
