1878 8TF $1 Eye Dots, VAM-14.12, MS63 Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS. VAMworld.com states, "VAM-14.12 is an ultra rarity with less than ten known in all grades." The pick-up point is in front of Liberty's eye, which shows a couple of tiny die dots. Additional die dots are found in a fold of Liberty's cap, west of the second U in UNUM. This is a flashy Select example with peripheral peach-gold patina. Moderate contact on the left obverse determines the grade. The introductory and briefly issued eight tailfeather Morgan dollars are widely collected by VAM variety, and the rarest 8TF VAMs command enormous premiums over "common" varieties, such as VAM-17.
