Morgan Dollars
1879 $1 MS66 NGC. Liberty's cheek is smooth, rounded, and unblemished on this Premium Gem dollar. Brilliant and frosty luster dominates the nearly immaculate surfaces, which show only a couple of small rim ticks and a single, tiny abrasion beneath the lowest arrowhead. With nearly 15 million pieces struck, the 1879 Philadelphia issue maximized many of the dies. This coin displays some signs of die wear as well as a touch of blending over the ear, yet the overall eye appeal is terrific. NGC reports just five numerically finer pieces. Census: 82 in 66 (4 in 66+, 3 in 66★), 5 finer (10/16).
