1879-CC $1 MS64 PCGS Secure. Lack of silver bullion was the primary reason just 756,000 silver dollars were struck at the Carson City Mint in 1879. Among CC dollars, the 1879 is second only to the 1889-CC in rarity despite several other Carson City issues with lower mintages. This example displays a trace of pale golden-gray toning over brilliant and frosty surfaces. Cartwheel silver luster shines from both sides of this sharply struck near-Gem example.
