1879-CC $1 Capped Die, VAM-3, MS62 PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. A classic example of the Capped Die variety, with numerous minute die chips near the mintmark. The cream-gray fields and devices are bounded by honey-gold and ice-blue toning. The centers are slightly soft, but the remainder of the piece is sharply defined.
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2007), lot 2344.
