Morgan Dollars
1879-CC $1 Capped Die, VAM-3, MS63 PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. Only 756,000 Morgan dollars were struck at the Carson City Mint in 1879 and many examples (including this coin) show the famous Capped Die reverse, the result of stamping a large CC mintmark over the partially effaced remnants of a smaller CC. The present coin is a well-detailed Select example, with lustrous brilliant surfaces on both sides. A few roller marks on Liberty's cheek are the only marks of note.
