Morgan Dollars
1880/79-CC $1 Reverse of 1878, VAM-4, MS66 PCGS. A Top 100 Variety. The three most prominent overdates of the Morgan dollar series are found on 1880-CC dollars (VAMs 4, 5, and 6). It is as if Mint workers at Philadelphia (where all dies were made) intentionally shipped the three offending obverse dies to Carson City, where the overdates would least likely be noticed. The present brilliant and lustrous example has a good strike and exceptionally smooth fields.
