1888-O $1 Oval O, VAM-21, MS62 NGC. A Top 100 Variety. 1888-O dollars with a round mintmark are plentiful, but examples with an oval mintmark are very scarce. Specialists have identified eight die pairs for the Oval O. VAM-21 is attributed by a die scratch inside the top of the I in LIBERTY. Lustrous and lightly toned with the usual New Orleans incompleteness of strike at the centers. The sole Mint State example certified by NGC as VAM-21 (10/16).
