1890-CC $1 MS65 PCGS. VAM-6. The 1 and 8 in the date show recutting north, and the first C in the mintmark is doubled. Only 3,949 pieces were released during the GSA sales, although various Treasury releases added ongoing quantities of the 1890-CC to the ranks of coins available to collectors. This example is quite sharply struck for the issue. The fields are semireflective beneath intermittent tan-gold toning with pleasing eye appeal. A series of small marks beneath the eye is noted, although the fields are free of any consequential abrasions. A few pinpoint carbon specs dot the obverse. PCGS reports just 15 numerically finer examples of this in-demand Carson City date (10/16).
