Morgan Dollars
1890-CC $1 MS65+ Deep Mirror Prooflike PCGS. The 1890-CC was released in small quantities as part of the GSA hoard during the early 1970s. Most coins had already been paid out from Treasury holdings during the 1940s and 1950s. Gems are very scarce without Prooflike surfaces, and MS65 representatives that do boast pronounced contrast are downright rare. PCGS reports 28 MS65 Deep Mirror Prooflike submissions, this being one of only two pieces with the added Plus recognition. None are graded higher (11/16). A ring of violet and blue patina encircles minimally toned centers that produce an outstanding degree of field-device contrast. The strike is pinpoint-sharp.
