Morgan Dollars
1892-CC $1 MS65 PCGS. Despite its ready availability in lower Mint State grades, the 1892-CC is challenging at the Gem level and rare any finer. The GSA sales had little to do with the scarcity (or lack of it) since only a single coin remained in the coffers for those distributions. This example is almost completely brilliant and frost-white with a faint area of powder-gray patina at star 8. The strike is evenly sharp throughout both sides, with strong cartwheel luster. A few light field abrasions determine the grade. PCGS reports a mere 31 coins in numerically finer grade (11/16).
