1896-O $1 AU58 Deep Mirror Prooflike NGC. The 1896-O is a notoriously poorly produced issue. The Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars (5th edition) explains that "Prooflike examples occur and are very rare, even well struck," making this near-Mint Deep Mirror Prooflike example of particular interest. Each side remains untoned with wispy marks. The strike is incredibly strong for the issue. Census: 5 in 58 Deep Mirror Prooflike, 5 finer (11/16).
