1896-S $1 MS64 PCGS. CAC. Near-Gem is the finest grade that most collectors are likely to encounter when searching for an 1896-S Morgan dollar as higher-grade examples are infrequently seen. PCGS and NGC report only about 100 coins grading Gem and finer (11/16). Silver-white, lustrous surfaces are seen on this MS64 offering. The hair above Liberty's hair exhibits more detail than typically seen on this softly struck issue. Minor grazes on Liberty's cheek and the adjacent field preclude a higher grade. Well deserving of the CAC endorsement.
