Proof Morgan Dollars
1878 8TF $1 Doubled Bow, VAM-14.3, PR64 NGC. The dies were used for circulation strikes as well as proofs, and show clear doubling on the lower-right leaves and berries. A die scratch inside the leg of the eagle helps confirm the reverse. On the obverse, the date shows slight doubling north and die polish lines occupy the recess below the top curl of the cap. Shades of peach-gold and cobalt-blue cover both sides with reddish accents in the recesses. A richly toned, near-Gem proof with razor-sharp definition and no distractions. Census: 31 in 64, 27 finer (11/16).
