1882 $1 PR67 Cameo PCGS. Dave Bowers writes in A Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars (5th edition): "Another good vintage year for Proofs -- what with the excellent strike and deep cameo contrast being the rule." While he is correct in his assertion that the 1882 comes with an excellent strike, as is to be expected of a proof, he may be overstating the availability of specimens with Cameo contrast. The PCGS Population Report suggests Cameo proofs are three times rarer than those without bold contrast. Superb Gems are rare across all categories. This PR67 Cameo dollar maintains its brilliance everywhere but the rims, where delicate golden patina forms. The centers are thickly frosted, while the glassy mirrors are deeply reflective. Fantastic technical and visual quality. Population: 8 in 67 Cameo, 3 finer (11/16).
