Proof Morgan Dollars
1883 $1 PR64 Cameo PCGS. Light golden-brown toning drapes this razor-sharp and impressively mirrored near-Gem. The cheek is beautifully smooth, and the grade is defined only by a mint-made planchet streak and a tiny spot above the olive branch. A larger mintage of 1,039 proofs was struck in 1883 and quite a few were preserved in better grades, making this an excellent early date for type purposes. Population: 12 in 64 (1 in 64+) Cameo, 24 finer (10/16).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2006), lot 6617.
