1889 $1 PR64 PCGS. CAC. Strong cameo contrast exists but yields to intensive olive and gold toning that covers both the obverse portrait and the surrounding fields. Viewed in light, the vibrantly mirrored fields reveal their gleaming complexity, with bits of azure-blue and violet at the rims. The reverse is more overtly contrasted with silver-mirrored fields set against frosty-white raised motifs, save for a crescent of blue and umber-brown toning that runs vertically through the right (facing) wingtip, wreath, and legend. A thin band of orange-gold toning encircles the remaining reverse border. CAC-endorsed for eye appeal and technical quality. Population: 44 in 64, 29 finer. CAC: 4 in 64, 4 finer (11/16).
